間接疑問文の基本ルール
◯語順は疑問詞 + 主語 + 動詞（肯定文と同じ）
◯直接疑問文のようにdo / does / didを使わない
◯疑問符？は不要
Yes / No疑問文を間接疑問文にする
if/whether + 主語 + 動詞の形を使います。
◯if/whether + 主語 + 動詞
・Is she happy?
→ I don’t know if she is happy.
・Did he finish his homework?
→ I wonder if he finishes his homework.
・Will they come to the party?
→ Do you know whether they will come to the party?
ifとwhetherの違い
基本的にはifとwhetherのどちらを使うこともできますが、後ろにor notを伴うときはwhetherを用いることが多くあります。
・I don’t know whether she is happy or not.
・I don’t know if she is happy or not. （カジュアルな表現）
wh疑問文を間接疑問文にする
wh疑問文を間接疑問文にする際には疑問詞（what, where, when, why, how）+ 主語 + 動詞の形を用います。
◯疑問詞（what, where, when, why, how）+ 主語 + 動詞
・Where does she live?
→ I don’t know where she lives.
・What is he doing?
→ Can you tell me what he is doing?
・Why did she leave early?
→ I wonder why she left early.
・How does he make money?
→ Do you know how he makes money?
・Where does she live?
→ where she lives
・Why did she leave
→ why she left
Who / What が主語の場合
主語が疑問詞になっている場合は、直接疑問文と語順が変わりません。
・Who broke the window?
→ Do you know who broke the window?
・What caused the accident?
→ I wonder what caused the accident.

◯語順はそのまま（すでにS + Vの形だから）
間接疑問文と一緒に使われる表現
間接疑問文は、以下の表現と一緒に使われることが多くあります。
・I don’t know 〜「私は〜を知らない」
I don’t know where she lives.
・Do you know 〜?「あなたは〜を知っているの？」
Do you know what time it is?
・Can you tell me 〜?「〜を教えてくれますか？」
Can you tell me how to get to the station?
・I wonder 〜「〜かしら（疑問に思う） 」
I wonder why he left early.
・Let me know 〜「〜を教えてください」
Let me know when you are free.
