今回は「いつ？」という意味を表し、時間や時期をたずねる際に用いる疑問詞のwhenを紹介します。
whenを使った疑問文
（１）日付や時間をたずねる
・When is your birthday? 「あなたの誕生日はいつ？」
・When is the meeting? 「会議はいつ？」
・When do you get up? 「いつ起きるの？」
・When did you arrive? 「いつ到着したの？」
・When is the meeting? 「会議はいつ？」
・When do you get up? 「いつ起きるの？」
・When did you arrive? 「いつ到着したの？」
（２）過去・現在・未来の出来事をたずねる
・When did you start learning French? 「いつフランス語を学び始めたの？」
・When will you come back? 「いつ戻ってくるの？」
・When does the movie start? 「映画はいつ始まるの？」
・When will you come back? 「いつ戻ってくるの？」

（３）間接疑問文
「いつか分からない」や「いつか教えてほしい」と言うときは間接疑問文を使います。
・I don’t know when Sally will arrive. 「サリーがいつ到着するのかわからない」
・Can you tell me when the bus leaves? 「バスがいつ出発するのか教えてくれますか？」
・I wonder when Rerun was born. 「リランがいつ生まれたのか気になる」
・Can you tell me when the bus leaves? 「バスがいつ出発するのか教えてくれますか？」
・I wonder when Rerun was born. 「リランがいつ生まれたのか気になる」
Whenを使った表現
◯Since when? 「いつから？」
・Since when have you been here? 「いつからここにいるの？」
◯Until when? 「いつまで？」
・Until when are you staying? 「いつまで滞在するの？」
◯From when to when? 「いつからいつまで？」
・From when to when is the event? 「そのイベントはいつからいつまで？」
◯When is a good time? 「都合がいいのはいつ？」
・When is a good time for you? 「あなたが都合がいいのはいつ？」
